In this project, I engage with themes that causally and consequentially reflect the central topic of the 45th Zagreb Salon — The Market: questions of how, why, and when economic necessity transforms the human being, the artist, and art itself; the role that museums and other cultural institutions play in these processes; what constitutes a market-oriented character; and how, and at what point, the artist must themselves become a commodity in order to succeed within the market system.
The prize game was carried out through the sale of raffle tickets sold by two young ladies – stars of Croatian Radio television and hostesses of the Croatian Lottery. The proceeds from ticket sales were intended for the establishment of a Mutual Aid Fund for Artists in Need. The final drawing of the winner of my original artwork was conducted by Croatian performance artist Vlasta Delimar.
