The project Happiness began with the submission to the Festival of Firsts, whose set theme was Market Responsibility of Capital. The project was conceived so that, from the date of application until the opening of the festival, the artist would play one game of chance every day. This included filling out lottery tickets, purchasing instant-lottery scratch cards, guessing games at fairs, target-shooting games at amusement parks, SMS entries for the television show Piramida, playing roulette in a casino, participating in magazine prize draws, and other forms of gambling.
During this period, I kept a diary in which I recorded each day the type of game played, the manner and location in which it was played, the amount invested, and the potential profit. I also treated my application to the 5th Festival of Firsts as a game of chance, adding the possibility of winning the jury’s monetary award to the project’s potential profit and capital. The acquired capital was then invested in the happiness of other participants, through an internal prize game in which all obtained objects and all accumulated money were redistributed.
The project consisted of an essay on the theme of Happiness, printed on a moving advertising ticker displayed in the gallery window, a diary of games of chance, a list of acquired objects, and prize game for festival participants and visitors.
