The Little Match Girl, Klovićevi dvori Gallery, First Croatian Illustration Biennial, Zagreb, 2006. Prozori Gallery, Do You Celebrate Christmas?, Zagreb, 2006

The Little Match Girl is an installation that, through the symbolism of light, warmth, and fragility, speaks about the fate of creativity in a materialistic world of indifference. The white dress into which matches are woven becomes a metaphor for countless potentials, unrealized possibilities, and inner lights that seek warmth, support, and space to shine and grow. Through motifs of cold, invisibility, and loss from Andersen’s original tale, the work addresses the vulnerability of the child, but also the strength of the artist, and the need for a community that recognizes, protects, and nurtures creative life.
